About the project

In a drastic combination of climate change and a centuries old population of introduced beavers, sub-Antarctic birds are forced to contend with avian malaria for the first time as a team of scientists race to stop it. Mal Aire - Spanish for “bad air” and the root for the name malaria, follows a team of scientists in Southern Chile and a team of scientists in the Hawaiian Islands as they race to find and implement solutions to save at-risk avifauna.
