OCEAN STATE
RHODE ISLAND’S WILD COAST
Ocean State: Rhode Island’s Wild Coast is a PBS documentary series that dives into the rich marine and coastal ecosystems of Rhode Island and their importance to the broader New England ocean environment. Produced by Silent Flight Studies with support from Ocean State Media Group, the series brings viewers underwater and along the shoreline to explore the wildlife, science, and conservation efforts shaping this dynamic coast.
Running Wild Media is proud to serve as a production partner and impact production partner on the project. Beyond helping tell these stories visually, our role focuses on ensuring the series drives real-world conservation outcomes, connecting audiences, partners, and communities to actions that protect ocean ecosystems.
The series features leading and local marine scientists, conservationists, and underwater cinematographers documenting migratory species, coastal habitats, and the environmental challenges facing Rhode Island’s waters. Filmed using underwater, aerial, and coastal cinematography, Ocean State captures everything from nearshore ecosystems to offshore waters.
Ocean State began airing on PBS member stations in 2026, including Rhode Island PBS, and is available for streaming on PBS.org and the PBS app. The project is planned as a multi-season series, with an accompanying feature-length film in development.
Through storytelling, science, and strategic impact campaigns, Running Wild Media is helping ensure Ocean State doesn’t just inspire awe—but helps protect the ocean for generations to come.
